BGRS Hard Anodized Teflon-Coated TL70 Throwout Bearing Retainer

The throwout bearing retainer of the TL70 manual transmission is subject to high frictional loads during every clutch operation. With the BGRS Hard Anodized Teflon-Coated TL70 Throwout Bearing Retainer, Battle Garage Racing Service offers a coated alternative to the factory aluminum retainer. The hard anodizing with PTFE coating is designed to make the surface more resistant to wear and reduce friction between the retainer and the throwout bearing.

Less friction, more durability

The factory throwout bearing retainer is made of aluminum and can develop signs of wear over time due to the repeated movement of the throwout bearing. The hard-anodized and Teflon-coated version from BGRS addresses this contact surface: the surface treatment is designed to increase wear resistance and support smoother sliding movement.

This makes the retainer particularly interesting when a clutch overhaul is pending. If the transmission is being removed anyway, the throwout bearing retainer can be checked and, if necessary, replaced with the coated version.

For clutch overhauls on the TL70

The BGRS retainer is intended as a direct replacement for the original throwout bearing retainer. It is used during clutch maintenance or replacement and continues to serve as a guide for the throwout bearing during engagement and disengagement.

The coated version is a sensible option for vehicle owners who, during a clutch overhaul, do not just want to replace worn components but also want to upgrade the high-stress sliding surface of the throwout bearing retainer.

Complementing the throwout bearing retainer

The BGRS TL70 Throwout Bearing Retainer can be ideally combined with other high-quality components for the clutch actuation and drivetrain. In particular, the Verus forged clutch fork and the BGRS reinforced throwout bearing are sensible additions if you want to address the mechanically stressed components of the release system during a clutch overhaul. In combination with our CC Clutch clutch and flywheel kit, it creates a coordinated foundation for a performance-oriented clutch replacement. Compatibility of the individual components with the selected clutch and the vehicle should be verified – this combination is not generically approved for every configuration.

Installation note

The replacement is carried out in the area of the clutch and throwout bearing retainer and is typically associated with the removal of the transmission. Installation should be performed according to the specifications for the TL70 clutch system. During a clutch overhaul, it is recommended to also inspect adjacent components – especially the throwout bearing, fork, and contact surfaces – for wear.
